Boiler Installation Information

We’ve compiled some essential yet straightforward information on boiler installation to help you make the right decision and feel confident in your choice. It covers some of the common considerations beforehand, what the installation entails, and what happens afterwards. First, however, here are some key facts about boilers.

What type of boiler can be installed? 

There are three main types of boilers for you to choose from – the combi, the conventional and the system boiler. The type of boiler you choose will depend on a number of factors such as how much hot water you and your family require, if you have a gas connection, and the space available for the boiler installation itself. If you already have a boiler in place but simply require a new one due to age, updating your boiler is a generally quicker and easier process when changing like for like. However, for some, the advantages of changing to a new type of boiler will be greater than any disturbance caused. 

If you have a large family and larger family home, the chances are you will require more hot water than a smaller family dwelling. If this is the case, in many instances a conventional boiler will be advisable as they are able to meet the demand for larger amounts of water. Smaller household occupancies would be better suited to a combi-boiler instead.

If you would like your boiler to be placed is in a confined area with little space, a combi boiler will most likely be necessary as they don’t use a water tank to heat your hot water. If you are replacing an old boiler for a new one, the simplest and least disruptive way to do this, is to place the new boiler in the same place as the old one.  If you wish to change the location within your house, this is certainly something the Fixx team can arrange for you but some building work and additional disruption may be necessary to achieve this.

Once you’ve decided on the type of boiler installation you’d like, one of our Gas Safe registered Fixx engineers will arrange an appointment to come round and have your boiler installed. If you are able to choose when (and your boiler hasn’t broken down for the last time) we’d recommend having the installation during the summer months. If you aren’t lucky enough to choose, however, one of our team will have your new boiler installed as quickly as possible, getting you and your family back to home comforts.

The boiler installation process

To begin the process, your Fixx Gas Safe registered engineer will come by to do a site survey. This simply entails carrying out some essential checks such as water pressure, where your current boiler is, the flue and number of radiators etc. The installation will not occur on this particular day. The next stage will be the installation itself, on a day pre-arranged with you. If the boiler installation is like for like with no unforeseen complications, your engineer should be done and dusted within the day. If, however, the boiler system is being replaced with a different boiler system to the old one or the location is moving, the work required will be more extensive.  Your engineer will be able to advise you of timings and additional works required during their site survey.

Costs

Having a new boiler fitted can be an expensive job, but at Fixx, we’re confident that our prices are both competitive and offer best value for service anywhere. Due to the varying nature of boiler installations, the price can range dramatically and so we will always provide you with a competitive, transparent and fixed price quote so you know exactly where you stand. As a starting guide, you can expect to pay anywhere between £2500 and £5000 for most typical boiler installations.

Aftercare

Our warranty period, as included in our quote will vary depending upon the brand of boiler you choose. This is again something that can be discussed with our helpdesk or engineers to ensure you receive the best long term solution for you.  Our team are also available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, should you ever have any questions or concerns.

How much you pay will depend how long it takes to fix your problem and where you live. Every hour thereafter will cost £60.00 per hour.

Book an Annual Boiler Service

From £60.00 for a domestic boiler

One of our gas engineers will carry out a full boiler service. Our costs are based on a single domestic boiler. 

If you have an oil boiler, please contact the Fixx team for your boiler servicing costs. 

Travel and labour are included. 

Our costs do not include and replacement parts needed for your boiler to keep running.

Called HomeServe who arranged for an engineer from Fixx to attend a call out for the problem. My Father who is blind was on his own as I was away. They called me on the day of the visit to confirm the appointment and then the engineer called to say he was 20 mins away. He located the problem, went out to fetch a part, returned and fitted it before setting the timer so that it worked correctly for my Father. The engineer spoke to me and described the problem and the action he was taking along the way. A first-class service, I would recommend to anyone.
